Two separate courses will run: May 11th., 12th., 13th. and 18th., 19th, 20th. Courses are intended for those who have little or no experience in beekeeping. At the end of the three days, you will take away enough knowledge and practical experience to keep and handle bees. With a little luck and some application of the techniques you will have picked up, you may well be bottling your first batch of honey by the Autumn. Courses are intended to be fun and informal. There will be a maximum number of 10 attendees and you will work in the company of two beekepers. Courses will be led by John Everett, John is a retired biology teacher with over thirty years experience keeping bees. He currently has forty hives that are used for pollination, honey and breeding. John runs practical beekeeping evening classes with Norfolk Adult Education in his own Apiary, is a regular speaker on Beekeeping in Norfolk at WIs, Horticultural Meetings etc. The course will be run over two days, with an informal talk on the Friday evening. All meals are provided and there will be a minimum of four practical beekeeping sessions. An oppurtuinity to assemble hive parts will be given and everybody will have the chance to handle bees. Notes will be provided to take away. Accommodation will be at The Hedges four star Bed and Breakfast, theory and practical sessions will wherever possible take place in the garden, provision for inclement weather will be made, although it is impossible to allow for all conditions. (Whilst it is possible to handle bees during a thunderstorm it is likely to end up in more than a little soreness). All attendees will need to provide their own protective clothing, if you do not have this, you can order prior to attending and it will be here ready for you. It is possible that a sting or two may be experienced. It is possible to order a nucleus of bees and equipment to take away with you at the end of the course.

The price includes: Practical and theory sessions, notes, Accommodation, light lunch and evening meal. Soft drinks and refreshments. (you can bring your own alcohol).
